About our MC, Helen Oakey
​Helen Oakey is CEO of Renew and has worked in sustainability, climate advocacy and community engagement for more than 20 years. As a policy advisor in the ACT Parliament, she saw the Territory set its 100% renewable energy target. Later, as Executive Director of the ACT’s peak environment organisation, she led the successful campaign for a gas-free ACT—adopted by the ACT Government in 2022—and developed Make the Switch, a website helping Canberra households transition off gas. Helen has also put theory into practice, fully electrifying two homes: a three-bedroom Canberra cottage in 2016 and a two-bedroom Eltham townhouse in 2023.
